Manchester City Ruined Football – Fact

It is a very well known fact that Manchester City, current Premier League Champions, have ruined football but little is known about the extent of the damage that this disgraceful club has caused over the last twenty years. Well, here are the facts so I hope your arses are secured.

It was Manchester City’s fault that, in 1992 top flight clubs decided to resign from the Football League and join a new competition created by the FA, ending over 100 years of traditional football. This new competition, The Premiership, was set to be the best league in the world.

It was Manchester City’s fault that the FA secured sponsorship of this new league stretching into the millions and it was Manchester City’s fault that that Sky came along and bought the exclusive TV rights for Premiership games, pumping further millions into the game and allowing already rich clubs to grow richer. They are also the reason why, if you wanted to watch the football, you had to subscribe to Sky and have a huge satellite dish on the side of your house.

With the creation of the Premiership and Sky’s involvement, it was therefore clearly Manchester City’s fault that the traditional kick off times for every game in England was changed from 3pm on a Saturday, to 4pm on a Sunday and 8pm on a Monday. Then 12.45pm and 5.30pm on a Saturday and any other time and date Sky or ESPN see fit.

This ruined the game for a vast number of regular supporters who worked all week and enjoyed going to see their local team play at the weekend. Supporters became obsessed with gloryhunting and attendances at some clubs rose dramatically once they started being successful.

But, not content with damaging our own game, Manchester City then attacked Europe.

It was Manchester City’s fault that UEFA, a fair, honest and sportsmanlike organisation, decided that the European Cup was no longer a worthwhile competition. At the end of the day, who wants to see a ‘David and Goliath’ match such as Marseille vs Red Star Belgrade in the final when we could potentially have Barcelona vs AC Milan?

Therefore it was Manchester City’s fault that UEFA created the Champions League and even invited non champions to participate. This would mean that big clubs could face the little clubs early on so the big guns could fight it out all the way to the final. Now that’s not very interesting is it?

And it was Manchester City who instigated it all.

And let’s not forget it was Manchester City who forced UEFA to secure huge sponsorship deals and television rights, pumping billions into the game, but only for the big, successful teams and regardless of the fact that Manchester City would not benefit from any of this money, they still forced the plans through anyway.

Then, once they had organised the first stage of destroying football, Manchester City went and got themselves relegated, not once, but twice. So while Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United were busy spending well over the odds for players and paying them stupidly extortionate wages, the destroyers of football were playing in the third tier of English football.

But in their exile from the top two flights of English football, they instigated other clubs to spend millions on players. It would get these clubs into the riches of the Champions League, Manchester City argued, so teams like Leeds and Portsmouth did so, and they are now fucked. It’s all Manchester City’s fault

You might think that is it, but you are so wrong on so many levels. Not content with destroying English club football and the most prestigious club competition in the world, Manchester City also had the insane idea to do away with the European Cup Winners Cup and allow cup winning teams from all countries to compete in the UEFA Cup, a competition they would later organise into the Europa League.

This again generated money for clubs that participated in it, making them even richer than they already were. And they also arranged for Champions League drop outs to take part in the new competition so at least they could still play in European competition.

IT IS ALL MANCHESTER CITY’S FAULT!!!!!

No other team has invested like Manchester City have. Everyone else uses their own income, especially Manchester United. They used the money gained from all their huge amounts of success in the 1980’s to generate the spending spree of 1989 which ultimately lead to their success of the last twenty years.

Yes readers, those two FA Cup successes in 1983 and 1985 generated so much money that they could afford to buy Neil Webb, Gary Pallister, Paul Ince, Danny Wallace and Mike Phelan for a combined total of £6.75m in 1989. That was on top of spending almost £1m for Steve Bruce and splashing out on Brian McClair, Mark Hughes and Jim Leighton.

It’s amazing what two FA Cup wins in the 80’s could buy eh?

Now, twenty years later, Manchester City are still doing it. Spending money on players to play for their club so they can buy another cup or title because no other team have ever done what they have done in the history of football. FACT!

Looking at those facts, it is quite clear to everyone with a brain that Manchester City have ruined football forever.

IT IS ALL MANCHESTER CITY’S FAULT.

May the force be with you
